Pond 02 - Wedding Day:

The site was prepped with the aid of an excavator, digging out the large pond, as well as forming the waterfall. Roll your mouse over the image to see how the site started.
The bottom of the pond is compacted, creating a smooth surface on which the liner sits. Roll your mouse over the image to view the work in progress.
The addition of plantings as well as mulch help to define this pond, while allowing it to appear natural.
Aaron designed a center island in the waterfall, thus splitting the flow of water in two directions. Plantings were added to the island, to add dynamic.
Several different sizes of cobble are used to create the illusion of natural formation of the pond. This also creates a sense of depth within the stone work.
And this angle allows you a glimps of the island waterfall, with the dual flows of water.
Pond 03 - Redesign:

The homeowners decided to change their existing pond. Notice all the black liner? In order to make a pond look natural, that black liner needs to be hidden by plants, rocks, and wood. The homeowner’s wanted to incorporate Aquascape products (biofalls, and skimmer) so that their pond can be filtrated properly. In addition, they plan to add some aquatic plants. Aquatic plants are important for the pond ecosystem and can also soften the look of all the rocks in the pond.
Pond 04 - Pond Upgrade:

The homeowners use to have a very small pond and decided they wanted to upgrade it. They had started the digging process when they called me. In addition to an increase in size, the homeowners wanted the pond near their patio so they can enjoy it while sitting outside. The idea was to create a mountain pond with cobble beaches and groundcovers.
The homeowners wanted a boggy area near their pond. I raised the level of the bog so that two small water trickles would enter the pond for interest and extra noise. The homeowners are Master Gardner’s and plan to plant aquatic plants in the bog.
The stream length was 25 feet. To add some interest, I decided to split the stream and have it surround a small island with an existing miniature fir tree.
Pond 05 - Indoor Beauty:

This indoor project started with a fountain that was built in the 1970’s. The idea was to create this area to look like a natural pond. This is the finished pond. The viewpoint is where the small stream enters the pond (waterfall not shown). There is also a micro waterfall in the corner for extra noise and interest. Lighting, either underwater, or around the pond, always gives the pond extra interest and can be enjoyed at night time. The large pieces of wood helps soften the rocks and gives the pond a more natural appearance.
